What is a Co-op?

The importance of knowing who we are.

Paul Basha, President and CEOMessage from the President and CEO
March, 2006

You know who we are. We provide your power and offer programs to improve your quality of life and empower our community. Because we work hard to offer the highest level of service and safety, we are taking extra measures to make sure you know who we are when we are out in the field.

With your safety as our first concern, we want all of our employees to be easily identified with ID badges and uniforms.

You may have read the story in The Rock Hill Herald about citizens being taken advantage of by people going door-to-door posing as Duke Power workers. We are all thankful that no one was physically hurt in the incident, but the case made us all aware that none of us can be too careful about protecting ourYEC ID Badge members' property and safety. We agree with law enforcement officials that it is important to ask for identification, look for uniforms or official vehicles, and to call if you are not sure. We ask that you take those extra measures and at the same time, our employees are prepared to show their co-op identification. We also urge you to contact us to check if workers are scheduled to be in your area.

York Electric's ID cards do not have our logo on them. They will only have the name and photo of the employee. "York Electric Cooperative" will be written beside the photo on each ID card. Our vehicles do feature the official York Electric emblem, so look for those as well.

In this day and time, I wish that our smiling faces were enough, but we don't mind going this extra step so that you feel safe and we can continue to do our work as people you know and trust!
