York Electric Cooperative Outpaces Other Utilities Nationally, New Report Shows

September 11, 2006

The results are in, and York Electric Cooperative has scored big in the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), the most recognized consumer satisfaction index in the United States.

www.theacsi.orgThis summer, York Electric Cooperative participated in a survey to better understand the relationships cooperatives build with their members. As part of that survey, the ACSI asked questions to develop a score which is used to compare York Electric Cooperative with other Touchstone Energy Cooperatives and investor-owned utilities.

This year's ACSI score for York Electric Cooperative is 88, which is higher than the national average for all 632 Touchstone Energy Cooperatives combined (81). York Electric Cooperative's score of 88 is also higher than the top investor-owned utility, which scored an 80. And York Electric Cooperative scored above the national average for the entire utility industry, which had an ACSI score of 72.

"They are willing to do anything to keep the people happy," said one South Carolina electric cooperative member who answered this summer's survey. Another member said, "They are prompt. If something goes bad, they are right there. I can call 24 hours a day and someone is there." Comments like those are reasons York Electric Cooperative is above the national average when it comes to customer satisfaction.

About the ACSI

The ACSI is a national economic indicator of customer evaluations of the quality of products and services available to household consumers in the United States. The index is managed by the University of Michigan Business School and sponsored by the American Society for Quality. Company scores and other information about the ACSI can be found at www.theacsi.org.
