York Electric Cooperative promotes safety as top priority
Safety is top-level priority at York Electric Cooperative, Inc. (YEC); it permeates the entire organization. Safety is ingrained in the fabric of your cooperative's system so it continues to be a natural part of everyone's daily routine.
Throughout the year, YEC strives for an effective safety discipline. Inspections are routinely conducted, preventive measures are performed, instruction and training are provided, protective gear is supplied, certain behaviors are mandated and careful habits and extra precautions are encouraged and popular. Safety is paramount because it protects YEC employees and member-owners alike.
YEC has a prestigious Safety Award Program. The criteria for winning the annual award is a comprehensive assessment and is as follows:
- Accidents or incidents, "near misses", equipment and property damage within the safety year
- Attitude toward the safety program
- Promotion of the safety program, safe work habits, and a safe work environment
- Timeliness, accuracy, and effort put into the monthly crew safety reports
- Housekeeping
Denny Lynn, Director of Engineering and Operations, affirms that all employees take proactive measures to make safety a true prerequisite to everything else. "When all of YEC employees go home safe each day throughout the year, we all win."
The employees receiving the YEC Safety Award for 2006 were Gene Childers, Mike Dickson, Phil Leake, Andy Lewis and Patty Moss.

Congratulations are extended to these employees; we appreciate your efforts in helping us prevent accidents before they occur.
