Third-Party Notification payment option available
We're looking out for you
By Jennifer Curtin
York Electric Cooperative realizes that sometimes a monthly bill can be overlooked. There are many reasons for overlooking a bill, such as illness, hospitalization, an older family member living alone, a first-time bill payer, and sometimes people just get busy and forget.
Third-Party Notification is a free service offered by York Electric as a safety net which allows a designated third party to be notified should a loved one's electric bill become past due or be subject to disconnection. Under this program, York Electric will send a delinquent notice to the designated third party of the member's choosing if his/her account becomes past due. Both the member and the third party will receive a delinquent notice.
The third party may be a relative, friend, neighbor or anyone the member chooses. Providing notification to a third party does not place any obligation on that party to pay the electric bill for the member. It will not necessarily postpone or prevent disconnection if no payment is made. While the third party is not responsible for paying the bill, they may choose to remit a payment for the member. They will also have the peace of mind of being notified prior to possible disconnection of service.
Third-Party Notification may be set up by the member, or by a concerned third party with the member's permission. The service provides assurance that someone will be notified if electric service is subject to disconnection for nonpayment. This is especially helpful during extreme weather conditions such as the cold winter or the hot summer.
To sign up for Third-Party Notification, simply complete the form below and return it with your electric payment or drop it by one of our offices.
