Operation Round Up aids 22 families, 8 agencies
January, 2010
Thanks a million to our members for rounding up and reaching out through Operation Round Up! A little goes a long way to help our community.
In November, the trust board that administers YEC member donations to Operation Round Up disbursed $31,033.08 to 22 families and 8 non-profit agencies to help meet critical financial needs.
Individual requests have grown steadily due to a weakened economy and continued job losses, says Tammie Anderson, trust board chair. "This increase in aid requests prompted the board to reassess grant allocations. Individual emergency situations now take top priority. The funds collected each month have declined since 2000; however, the number of applications we receive has tripled. For this reason, the board can't approve every application."
Recommendations to approve or deny applications are made during quarterly board meetings. Anderson explains that when evaluating requests, board members consider the application the main source of information. Therefore, applications must be filled out completely, she stresses. Additional documentation may be required.
The next meeting will be held February 11; the application deadline is January 22.
