Rodeo team showcases skills
YEC's team showcased their skills and won several honors at the 13th annual Santee Cooper Lineworkers' Rodeo recently held at Old Santee Canal Park in Moncks Corner.
Competing in the Journeyman's events for the first time, co-op team members Nick Adams, Matt Craven and Jesse Miskelly pulled away with the second place title in knot tying. In the Apprentice Division, Michael Hill placed second while Stephen Clinton placed third in the written test. Other team members included Brandon Benfield, Jamie Clinton, John Elliott, Jeromy Knight, Phil Leake and Zack Smith.
The rodeo attracts top-quality lineworkers throughout S.C. "The competition helps our guys build confidence in their abilities and develops strong bonds as they work together as a team," says Denny Lynn, the co-op's director of engineering and operations. "Our team can be proud of their accomplishments; they represented us well."
Lineworkers with S.C. co-ops and with Santee Cooper, the state-owned utility, compete in the Lineworkers' Rodeo. Santee Cooper, the host of the event, is also the chief power supplier to the state's member-owned cooperatives.
