Joshua Greene earns School-to-Work scholarship
SHOWING ITS COMMUNITY COMMITMENT, York Electric Cooperative recently awarded two scholarships to local students.
YEC annually awards a $500 scholarship to an outstanding senior who has participated in the Floyd D. Johnson Technology Center's School-to-Work program. This year's recipient is Joshua Ryan Greene, the son of Dennis and Margie Greene.
Joshua graduated from York Comprehensive High School and will attend USC-Sumter this fall where he will study physical education and play baseball.
Jack Gantzer receives $1,000 scholarship
Fort Mill High School graduate John (Jack) Gantzer has received the co-op's $1,000 Touchstone Energy Scholarship. Jack accepted an athletic scholarship from Newberry College; he will join their soccer team this fall and plans to major in biology. After graduating from Newberry College, he plans to join the Marine Corps. Jack is the son of Fritz and Tammy Gantzer.
To compete for the scholarship, the student must be a high school senior, have average or above-average grades and submit an essay. This year's essay topic required research about how YEC differs from other electric providers.
YEC makes educational outreach a top priority. To learn more about these scholarships and other ways the cooperative shows its commitment to community, click here.
