Slide Numbers & Captions

  1. Members register and vote.

  2. The co-op registered 4,059 members in attendance.

  3. Students from York Comprehensive High School's Navy Junior ROTC program make hotdogs for the York Lions Club's concession stand. Lions Club members estimate they served 7,000 hotdogs.

  4. Judith Lowman has to be the happiest grand prize winner in recent memory. She almost couldn't stop screaming with delight. Here, she pauses long enough to pose — just smiling — with her "new" Ford pickup.

  5. Co-op member Magdalene Robbins, center, along with Hannah and Robert Basha, children of co-op CEO Paul Basha, play Energy Bingo. Leading the game, in background, is Leslie Hatchell, recycling coordinator for York County. Players learn about energy and win Energy Bucks, which can be used to purchase fun items from the Energy Store.

  6. Olivia Dover, 1-1/2, enjoys a bite of an elephant ear. It didn't take much coaxing by parents Matt and Christina Dover.

  7. Edna Bratton and Carroll Spires sell "Treasured Recipes II" cookbooks to raise money for Mount Vernon United Methodist. Their church is located in the Hickory Grove community.

  8. Janie and Cecil Chapman were longest-married couple at the meeting. Their 67th anniversary was Feb. 3. For this achievement, they won $10 — and a hearty round of applause.

  9. Ali Williams, 11, has a big time in the inflatable play area.

  10. Devin Williams (left), 11, does a slow-motion slide. Jasmine Bostick (right), 9, demonstrates a graceful sliding style.

  11. Van O'Cain of The Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina, Inc., talks with co-op member Gordon Brookfield about energy-saving compact fluorescent (CFL) light bulbs. Brookfield is already a big CFL user. "I've got a whole house full of them," he says. Looking on is York Electric's Brent Clinton.

  12. Pat Willett holds a corn snake. It was part of a menagerie in the S.C. DNR wildlife exhibit.

  13. Appalachian Blue picks some sweet bluegrass. The band's repertoire includes rock 'n' roll, beach music and Motown tunes, all with a bluegrass twist.

  14. Jessica, Lauren and Christopher Morgan get an up-close look at a young alligator. Jim Edwards of the S.C. Department of Natural Resources, right, brought the educational exhibit.

  15. Adam Whitesides, 6, has a big smile for a brand-new bicycle.

  16. David Dewayne Sikes, 7, also won a boy's bike.

  17. Clyde Long wins a Crock Pot.

  18. James Harper, takes home a Mixmaster. "I love to cook," Harper notes.

  20. Tyana Garcia, 10, with her new bike.

  21. The prizes keep coming. Stan Phifer snags a ShopVac.

  22. What's on TV? Just ask Judy Stegall, who won a new 13-inch color set.

  23. Cpl. Bryan McDougald of the S.C. Highway Patrol gives Katelin, 6, and Alex Faile, 9, some safety tips. These kids are extra safe: Their grandfather is Chief Bill Mobley of York city police.

  24. Board members elected during York Electric's 66th Annual Meeting. Charles R. (Dick) Burrell...
