  1. Record crowd, record fun
    An estimated crowd of 10,000 had a fun-filled day as they listened to bluegrass music by Appalachian Blue, played energy bingo, and enjoyed concessions from a variety of vendors.

  2. Power to the People
    4,311 members got the credit for registering during the May 10 Annual Meeting. Each member received a $25 power bill credit and a complimentary compact fluorescent light bulb, which are more energy efficient than standard incandescent bulbs.

    Co-op employees including Susan Black, left, handed out hundreds of compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) to members.

  4. Assembly Inspired
    Members bow their heads in prayer as Dean Ham, a retired co-op employee, gives the invocation. "Father we rejoice for our life and for this co-op," he prayed.

  5. From the CEO
    CEO Paul Basha announces that York Electric Cooperative is reported as having the lowest rates of any co-op in South Carolina.

  6. Creature Comforts
    Carolyn McDaniel, 6, says she wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up. After holding the alligator that Jim Edwards of the Department of Natural Resources brought, she'll be game for anything.

    Madison Cooper, 2, went around and around in the inflatable play area before finally finding her way out.

    Lindsey Smith of the Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina, Inc., tells a group of young people about energy-saving compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs). Smith is helping co-ops statewide with their "Do the Light Switch" campaign to promote the use of CFLs.

    Candied apples were the carnival food-of-choice for the Faulkner brothers, Kace, 9, and Jake, 8, left.

    Appalachian Blue returns for a third year to entertain the annual meeting crowd with bluegrass -- even Motown classics done in bluegrass style!

    After a full morning, Jonas Brazzel, 4, was so tired he put his head in grandma's lap to rest a while. Fortunately, he also had a free CFL bulb stress toy to lean on. He and other children received when they registered for the children's bikes drawing.
