- Record crowd, record fun
An estimated crowd of 10,000 had a fun-filled day as they listened to bluegrass music by Appalachian Blue, played energy bingo, and enjoyed concessions from a variety of vendors.
- Power to the People
4,311 members got the credit for registering during the May 10 Annual Meeting. Each member received a $25 power bill credit and a complimentary compact fluorescent light bulb, which are more energy efficient than standard incandescent bulbs.

CEO Paul Basha announces that York Electric Cooperative is reported as having the lowest rates of any co-op in South Carolina.
- Creature Comforts
Carolyn McDaniel, 6, says she wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up. After holding the alligator that Jim Edwards of the Department of Natural Resources brought, she'll be game for anything.

- Bright Things
Lindsey Smith of the Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina, Inc., tells a group of young people about energy-saving compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs). Smith is helping co-ops statewide with their "Do the Light Switch" campaign to promote the use of CFLs.

After a full morning, Jonas Brazzel, 4, was so tired he put his head in grandma's lap to rest a while. Fortunately, he also had a free CFL bulb stress toy to lean on. He and other children received when they registered for the children's bikes drawing.

Finley and Marie Dover of Hickory Grove with their grand prize winning, a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Mrs. Dover said they needed a truck. "The good Lord provides," she said.
