York Electric selects Washington Youth Tour delegates

YEC congratulates Wade Lucas from Clover High School and Sam Andersen, a home schooled junior, for being selected  to attend the 2009 Washington Youth Tour. YEC chose Mr. Lucas and Mr. Anderson, through an interview and application process, to represent YEC as participating delegates on the tour, which will be held June 13 – 18.

Wade is the son of Bob and Cindy Lucas. He has aspirations to become a history teacher. He hopes this opportunity will allow him to be able to share a great experience with his future students, and inspire them to want to have opportunities as outstanding as the Washington Youth Tour.

YEC student rep elected to Youth Leadership Council

Sam Andersen, this year's South Carolina delegate to the Youth Leadership Council, was in Atlanta the week of February 15 representing our state and his home co-op, York Electric, at NRECA's annual meeting.

While in Atlanta, Sam helped to make a local high school more energy efficient, provided assistance to the thousands of co-op officials attending the annual meeting and carried South Carolina's flag during opening ceremonies of the annual meeting.

Sam is the son of Brian and Martha Andersen of Rock Hill. He was chosen as a Youth Leadership Council representative during last summer's Washington Youth Tour.
