Power Profiles: Emma Sutton is the person behind the posts

If you fol­low York Elec­tric on social media, you may have noticed a new Fri­day tra­di­tion — short social media videos fea­tur­ing YEC employ­ees shar­ing about their work and lives.

The series, called Pow­er Pro­files, began last fall with the sim­ple but pow­er­ful goal of intro­duc­ing every co-op employ­ee to the mem­bers they serve.

At first glance, these reels might seem like quick posts in your feed. But each install­ment seeks to build con­nec­tions between mem­bers and the peo­ple who keep the lights on. From linework­ers and engi­neers to accoun­tants and mem­ber ser­vices staff, Pow­er Pro­files show­cas­es the per­son­al­i­ties and ded­i­ca­tion behind York Electric’s mis­sion of safe, reli­able and afford­able pow­er.

This month, Pow­er Pro­files high­lights the per­son behind the cam­era — Emma Sut­ton, YEC’s com­mu­ni­ca­tions and out­reach rep­re­sen­ta­tive. Since Sep­tem­ber 2023, Sut­ton has worked across near­ly every aspect of com­mu­ni­ca­tions, writ­ing for South Car­oli­na Liv­ing, assist­ing with social media man­age­ment and coor­di­nat­ing mem­ber and employ­ee com­mu­ni­ca­tions.

She also helps lead YEC’s com­mu­ni­ty out­reach, from teacher grants and youth lead­er­ship oppor­tu­ni­ties to non­prof­it part­ner­ships through Oper­a­tion Round Up and The Bur­rell Foun­da­tion.

For Sut­ton, launch­ing Pow­er Pro­files was both a cre­ative project and a per­son­al oppor­tu­ni­ty to learn more about her cowork­ers. With each video, she hopes employ­ees and mem­bers alike feel greater trust and pride in the team that pro­vides such an essen­tial ser­vice to our com­mu­ni­ty.
