Here’s how it works
During times when many people need electricity at once, YEC must meet that demand. At a certain point, additional—and more expensive—generation units are needed to supply the energy. This increases the price of electricity. Power Saver Rewards uses a device to briefly cycle the flow of power to central air conditioners during times of high demand for electricity. Typically the times of high demand are during the hours between 6 AM and 9 AM in the winter months.
Qualified applicants will receive a one-time $20 bill credit for signing up, speaking with an installation technician, and having a Power Saver Rewards device installed on their home.
To get started in the program, sign up online or call our member services department at (803) 684-4248. An installation technician will contact you to further discuss the program and schedule a time to qualify your home for the program and install a Power Saver Rewards device if your home qualifies. Once the switch is installed, you’ll also receive $5 per summer month incentive each year for the time period during June, July, August and September. For even more savings, you can add additional air-conditioning units ($3 per unit per month from June–September).
By shifting the time some people use energy, YEC can manage the demand for it and decrease the need to build new power plants. This also helps keep the cost of electricity stable—and that benefits everyone.
GO GREEN AND SAVE!
With Bank Draft and e-bill from York Electric Cooperative, you can “go green” and save gasoline, paper, postage, time and money!
You’ll receive $1 credit each month ($12 per year) when you sign up for BOTH of the following:
1. Bank Draft
Bank Draft is the easiest way to do business with YEC. You’ll still receive a monthly statement, but you’ll never have to write another check to pay your electric bill or worry about the payment slipping your mind.
When you sign up for e-bill notification, we’ll send you a monthly e-mail with a link to view your bill online. You’ll no longer receive a paper billing statement, but your electronic billing statement will look the same.
If you continue to participate in both programs, you’ll receive an additional $1 credit each month ($12 per year)— limit one bill credit per member.
