Systems update

Construction is underway on two new substations, Banks Street and Springmaid, located in Fort Mill. Through our valuable partnership with New Horizon Electric Cooperative, YEC plans to complete this initiative by the end of 2025, strengthening service reliability for more than 3,500 members in a rapidly growing area of our service territory.

York Electric is also investing in upgrades to improve your service by replacing older meters with enhanced Sensus meters, a technology that other utilities use across the country. These upgrades will allow us to take readings remotely, locate outages faster and provide more detailed data on your energy use.

Since January, YEC and Pike contractor crews have been steadily installing new meters, with nearly 7,000 members receiving a new meter so far. Installations are underway or nearly finished in the India Hook, Oakridge, Park Place, Tirzah and Allison Creek areas, and South Lancaster members are next to receive upgrades.
