YEC returns $2.8 million to members through Capital Credits

At York Electric, membership pays. You are more than a customer at your co-op. You’re a member and an owner here at YEC. As an owner, we return any revenue exceeding our operating costs back to you. Think of it as your cash back from a percentage of the money you pay each year for the energy you use.

Your York Electric Board of Trustees voted to retire $2.8 million dollars to members this year. Members who were served by the cooperative in 2005, 2006 and 2024 can expect to receive a check in May or, if the amount is less than $20, as an electric bill credit beginning in April 2026.

This year marks the highest ever capital credit allocation to members. Your co-op accomplished this while continuing to invest in new technologies, working to minimize the effect of increasing power costs and demonstrating sound financial health.
