York Electric works diligently all year to remove the largest threat to our distribution system—trees. The co-op maintains a five-year trimming cycle across its service territory to help mitigate the risks of trees falling on the line and clear the way for lineworkers and trucks to be able to reach equipment quickly and safely for maintenance or in an outage situation.
During the spring and summer months, trees are nice and green, but the ground is dry. Although the leaves on the trees make it more difficult to cut in some cases, the dry ground allows for more efficient days without weather-related challenges.
Members can expect to see contract crews trimming trees near the Allison Creek, Hands Mill Highway and Concord Road areas of Lake Wylie over the next two months, as well as areas near Highway 274, Pole Branch Road and Kingsbury Rd. in the last quarter of the year.
