Every great lesson starts with one idea

Every impact­ful class­room expe­ri­ence begins with a teacher ask­ing the same ques­tion, “What if?” What if strug­gling read­ers had the tools they need­ed to become con­fi­dent read­ers? What if stu­dents could learn math by grow­ing plants? What if stu­dents learned soft skills long before their first job inter­view? What if a class­room tele­scope sparked a life­long inter­est in sci­ence?

These are real ideas that local teach­ers sub­mit­ted through York Electric’s Bright Ideas pro­gram. Every year, these grants give edu­ca­tors the resources they need to turn their inno­v­a­tive ideas into real­i­ties. Teach­ers in York Electric’s ser­vice area have two oppor­tu­ni­ties to cre­ate engag­ing class­rooms for their stu­dents:

• Bright Ideas grants pro­vide up to $1,000 for inno­v­a­tive projects that cre­ate excep­tion­al class­room expe­ri­ences. Teach­ers from pub­lic, pri­vate and char­ter schools serv­ing K‑12 stu­dents are eli­gi­ble to apply.
• For dai­ly class­room needs, Class­room Wish List grants allow teach­ers to pur­chase sup­plies and mate­ri­als that help stu­dents suc­ceed. Com­mu­ni­ty mem­bers can nom­i­nate out­stand­ing teach­ers, and win­ners receive gift cards to pur­chase items from their class­room wish lists.
