June 1, 20222022 Linemen's Rodeo 2022 Linemen's Rodeo Fourteen of YEC's hardworking linemen competed in the S.C. Lineman's Rodeo, including (left to right) Lander Tritt, Joey Winters, Jay Robinson, Tyler Adams, Ethan Mitchell, Jackson Good, Hunter Reed, Ryan Putnam, Zhenya Deller, Stephen Trotter, Luke Lucas, Graham Hennessy, Dustin Victor and Alex Pittman. Ethan Mitchell, Apprentice Lineman, operates a mini-excavator through a skills course, where each competitor must navigate a narrow passage and use the excavator bucket to lift and move various objects of different sizes and weights. Mitchell came in 2nd Place overall for this event. YEC's Journeyman Division Team, made up of Stephen Trotter, Alex Pittman and Dustin Victor, races to begin the Crossarm Lift, Knots and Wire Ties portion of the Lineman's Rodeo. In this timed team event, each member must perform a double crossarm lift, tie a square and running bowline rope knot and perform two wire ties. YEC's Journeyman Team came in 3rd Place overall for this event. Apprentice Lineman Graham Hennessy competes in the Obstacle Course Event. In this event, each competitor must climb a 40-foot pole, navigate three mounted crossarms and perform various relocations of equipment in under nine minutes. Apprentice Lineman Jay Robinson performs a simulated Hurtman Rescue. This event requires the climber to rescue a mannequin from the top of a 40-foot pole to represent an emergency rescue of a lineman in the field. YEC's Journeyman Lineman Stephen Trotter passes tools to his teammate Dustin Victor as they compete in the Oil Circuit Recloser and Bell Change-Out Event for Journeymen teams. On the ground, their teammate Alex Pittman uses ropes to raise and lower equipment and tools to his teammates working above him.
